Process II: 3D Letterform

I first drew out the letterform on cardboard, then cut it out, hot glued the pieces together, covered with sequins and voila! I started off with a lowercae "j" but had trouble making it stand on its own so i switched to a nice sturdy A.

Inspiration II

Found them in my room and concocted a brilliant plan to make a sequined letterform, telling myself it would only take a couple hours...little did i know. Sequins are much, much more difficult to work with than their whimsical appearance would imply...

Process

Finished product! I tried to venture outside of the shape a little more an also to expand further on the fish.































My originaldrop cap. I tried to push the boundaries a little with the seaweed at the top and the fish-ish arm but after critique in class realized I could do more. Awful white balance, oops.

Inspiration

I was watching Finding Nemo while brainstorming for my first weekly drop cap...hence my inspiration!
